About
Zach Miles received his Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in microbiology and chemistry from Weber State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of New Hampshire. He is a registered patent attorney and admitted to practice law in the state of Utah.
Presently, Zach serves as the Associate Vice President for Economic Development at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he manages the commercialization efforts of UNLV owned intellectual property and engages with state and community entities to establish mutually beneficial collaborations around innovations, research, and economic development.
Zach also serves as the Executive Director of the UNLV Research Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to support UNLV research and to support economic development in Southern Nevada. The Research Foundation owns and controls the UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park that is finishing construction on a new tech hub where a novel public-private partnership Black Fire Innovation will be housed.
Zach also serves as the Director of the UNLV Small Business Development Center which is a statewide resource for business assistance and provides useful information and analysis of the economy, environment, and demographic data to help businesses, government, and other organizations promote economic growth in their communities.
Zach has served on multiple non-profit and for profit boards, as general counsel, and founder of several small businesses. He also serves as a member of the UNLV policy committee. Prior to joining UNLV, Miles served as the deputy executive director of Technology Venture and Commercialization at the University of Utah. Miles has also co-founded, advised, and served as general counsel for a number of Utah based start-up companies.
