This month, our focus on sports betting reflects the impressive growth of the legal market in the U.S. and globally. Today, 92 million American adults have legal alternatives to bet on sports in their home state—including in Virginia, right in AGA’s backyard, just last week. This progress will continue this year as nearly a dozen states are actively considering legalization. The AGA continues to prioritize our efforts to advance the legal market, protect the opportunity, and stamp out the illegal market.

The return of G2E Insider comes at a time of optimism for the gaming industry, despite the continued challenges we face from COVID-19. The worldwide rollout of vaccines and advancements in therapeutics are encouraging signs for our recovery. Coupled with our industry’s innovation in safety protocols and approach to responsible reopening, it becomes easier to envision a second half of the year with busy casino floors and the return of live entertainment, business travel, and in-person meetings and conventions—including G2E.

For 20 years, G2E has driven collaboration and innovation in gaming, and COVID-19 has made it more important than ever to work together as an industry to forge our road to recovery. G2E Digital, our new year-round platform, will play a critical role in these efforts, as will the safe return of an in-person G2E to Las Vegas this fall. Our top priority remains the safety of our exhibitors, attendees, and staff and you can expect timely and transparent communications as G2E works towards October. We look forward to when we can host you again in the entertainment capital of the world as the city of Las Vegas —and entire gaming industry—makes its comeback.
