People often ask me, if G2E happens once a year, what do you do for the rest of the year? In addition to guiding our year-round G2E Digital engagements, I work with our team to prepare for the next G2E and to make it more valuable for our attendees, exhibitors, and other industry stakeholders. I can honestly say that this year has been my favorite G2E planning so far. We are back to regular business, planning an event that focuses on celebrating our industry and moving it into the future.
As we continue to move forward, I’ve seen the industry’s transformation firsthand as a Las Vegas resident, with hundreds of thousands of visitors enjoying various properties and participating in exciting events around the city. Consumers continue to seek out gaming and entertainment in various forms and as a result, we are finally getting back to business.
The data supports all of this too. The American Gaming Association (AGA) reported U.S commercial gaming revenue is up 24.2 percent in the first four months of 2022 compared to last year to a tune of $19.33 billion. All revenue streams in April were up, bringing in almost $5 billion—Nevada led the way with over $1.1 billion on its own.
We are hearing the same for G2E 2022. Our trade show floor is booking up and an excellent slate of education is being curated. Exhibitor energy headed into the summer is palpable with the return of mainstays and many new exhibitors joining us. With travel restrictions lifting, we are eager to welcome international attendees back to Las Vegas and see even more of our colleagues and friends this October.
