Bio: Gary L. Powell has more than 25 years of investigative and casino gaming experience. A highly trained individual in the art of protecting a casino’s assets and liabilities, his extensive career includes nine years with the Nevada State Gaming Control Board’s enforcement division where he worked both criminal and regulatory cases and served with the intelligence section. He specialized in undercover operations, which led to the arrests of individuals cheating at gambling and embezzlements. Powell also has held positions at several gaming operations, including surveillance manager at the Luxor, corporate director of surveillance for Horseshoe properties and director of surveillance and game protection for JMJ Management, Inc. He is a gaming consultant for numerous Native American gaming properties, designs satellite and DSL surveillance systems, and is highly trained in investigative, security and game protection. He is proficient in establishing policies and directives for single and multiple hotel and casino surveillance and security operations to ensure smooth and efficient operation as well as the protection of company assets. He also has the ability to spot and prevent potential problems dealing with crowd control and personal protection matters. Powell was elected president of the worldwide Surveillance Information Network in 2001 and also is president of the Protective Association of Gaming Agents. He is the co-author of Casino Surveillance and Security, 150 Things to Know, published by the American Society for Industrial Security.
