8.5 PERCENT ATTENDANCE INCREASE REPORTED
FOR CASINO DESIGN CONFERENCE & SYMPOSIUM 2004
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—Organizers of Casino Design Conference & Symposium, a Global Gaming Expo (G2E) event, report an 8.5 percent increase in overall attendance figures for the 2004 show. More than 200 people attended the show, held June 2-4 at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa, compared to 189 in 2003. Based on final registration reports, the show saw a marked rise in international representation, including attendees from Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan, Nicaragua, Russia and the United Kingdom, compared to previous years, when attendance reached only U.S. and Canadian markets.
The premier conference for those responsible for casino design and construction, the event attracts commercial and Native American gaming executives, interior and exterior designers, architects, builders, developers and others involved in the planning and development of casinos. The trade show featured numerous suppliers of products and services related to the building, design and construction of casinos worldwide.
“U.S. destination resort casinos have become a model for other casinos worldwide, which was reflected in the increased international attendance at our Casino Design conference,” said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association (AGA). “Our research has told us that this is an area where there will be dramatic shifts over the course of the next decade, and we want to keep those in our industry on the cutting edge of those changes.”
According to the AGA’s Future Watch Survey released at the close of G2E 2003, more than 62 percent of gaming executives noted that they expect there to be significant changes in the field of casino design during the next 10 years. The Future Watch series also noted that shifts are likely to reflect designs generated from the Las Vegas market.
“The AGA’s and Reed’s combined experience in managing worldwide gaming and trade events, along with the projected expansion in this market, should bring continued growth for this event for many years to come,” said Courtney Muller, vice president of Reed Exhibitions.
G2E, a joint venture of the AGA and Reed Exhibitions, acquired Casino Design Conference & Symposium and Racino, both of which will focus on burgeoning sectors within the gaming industry, at the end of May. The events will complement and expand on the ideas presented at G2E, the gaming industry’s premier trade show and conference, also managed by the AGA and Reed.
Dates for the 2005 Casino Design and Conference and Symposium will be announced shortly. For the most up-to-date information, visit the Casino Design conference Web site at www.G2Ecasinodesign.com.
