Head of MGM Studios to Address G2E
Alex Yemenidjian, entertainment industry leader, will provide outlook on the trends and future of the gaming industry
Norwalk, CT—Global Gaming Expo (G2E), the first industry-hosted international trade show and conference for the gaming-entertainment industry, announced today that Alex Yemenidjian, chairman of the board and CEO of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. (MGM), will serve as the keynote speaker on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
A former gaming industry executive, Yemenidjian has been a leader in both the gaming and entertainment industries and a steward of the convergence of the two industries. Yemenidjian will speak on the development of entertainment and gaming over the last decade and offer his thoughts on the industry’s future.
Yemenidjian oversees all operations of MGM, a diversified Los Angeles-based entertainment company, which includes MGM Pictures, United Artists Films, MGM Television Entertainment, MGM Networks, MGM Home Entertainment, MGM Consumer Products, MGM Music, MGM Interactive, and MGM.com. Prior to joining Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., Yemenidjian served as president and chief operating officer of MGM Grand, Inc., an entertainment, hotel, and gaming company headquartered in Las Vegas, and continues to serve on the board of directors of MGM MIRAGE.
G2E, organized by the American Gaming Association (AGA) in conjunction with Reed Exhibition Companies, will debut Oct. 1-3, 2001, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, its host venue through 2020. G2E currently has more than 365 exhibitors showcasing hundreds of new products in the exhibit hall. The event will also feature keynote addresses by the most prominent leaders in the industry along with 100 dynamic conference sessions focusing on a wide range of issues that impact gaming.
"Few people have the combination of experience that Alex has in both the gaming and entertainment industries, which makes him an ideal keynote speaker for our conference," said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association, the show’s organizer. "His remarks will help motivate attendees to explore new and innovative ways to grow their business."
The American Gaming Association represents the commercial casino-entertainment industry by addressing federal legislative and regulatory issues. The association also serves as a clearinghouse for information, develops educational and advocacy programs, and provides leadership on industry-related issues of public concern.
Reed Exhibition Companies, G2E’s show management partner, is the world leader in bringing buyers and suppliers together at more than 400 trade and consumer events in 27 countries and nearly 50 industries. The company is a member of the Reed Elsevier plc group, a world-leading business and information provider.
