PROMINENT GAMING INDUSTRY LEADERS TO SPEAK AT G2E
Las Vegas—Many of the gaming industry’s most widely recognized names will be on the program when Global Gaming Expo (G2E) convenes this September in Las Vegas. Whether it’s entertainment and gaming industry legend Merv Griffin, who will be the featured guest at a Q&A; session; Harrah’s Chairman and CEO Phil Satre, who will be part of the annual “State of the Industry” keynote address; or any of the other top executives participating in the conference program, attendees will have the opportunity to learn the perspectives of global leaders from every segment of the gaming industry, as well as the regulatory agencies that oversee them.
“When we set out to develop our own show, our goal was to feature the most knowledgeable people in our business so they could share their experiences with everyone in the industry from around the world,” said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association. “By sharing their expertise at G2E, today’s industry leaders are helping to make G2E an important forum to mold our next generation of leaders.”
The following are some of the industry leaders who will be speaking at G2E 2002:
- American entertainment and gaming icon Merv Griffin, former owner of Resorts International in Atlantic City, N.J., original investor in riverboat casino company Players International and creator of television’s Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, which have taken on new lives as wildly popular slot machine games, will take part in a featured Q&A; session. The Sept. 19 session will allow attendees to “Ask Merv!” about his illustrious career in entertainment, gaming and hospitality that has spanned more than five decades.
- Bill Boyd, chairman and CEO of Boyd Gaming Corporation; Michael Gauselmann, CEO of Atronic International GmbH; Phil Satre, chairman and CEO of Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc.; and Ernie Stevens, chairman of the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA), will headline the annual “State of the Industry” keynote address moderated by AGA President and CEO Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr. Some of the issues discussed during this Sept. 18 keynote will be responsible gaming, the future of Internet gaming, and casino development in the United Kingdom, Mexico and Macao.

Gallagher; Isle of Capri Casinos President Jack Gallaway; MGM MIRAGE Chairman and CEO Terry Lanni; Harrah’s COO Gary Loveman; Argosy President and CEO Jim Perry; Boyd Gaming Corporation President Don Snyder; and Horseshoe Gaming President and COO Roger Wagner.

- Regulatory officials speaking at the conference include Peter Dean, chairman of The Gaming Board of Great Britain; Kevin Mullally, executive director of the Missouri Gaming Commission; and Tracy Burris, chairman of the gaming commission for the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma.
G2E is the only international gaming trade show and conference “by the industry and for the industry.” Organized by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions, G2E made its debut in fall 2001, defining itself as the pre-eminent show for the gaming-entertainment industry.
The AGA represents the commercial casino-entertainment industry by addressing federal legislative and regulatory issues. The association also serves as a clearinghouse for information, develops educational and advocacy programs, and provides leadership on industry-related issues of public concern.
Reed Exhibitions is a world leader in creating high-profile, targeted industry events where buyers and suppliers come together to do business. Every year, Reed events bring together some 160,000 suppliers and over nine million buyers from around the world. Today, Reed events are held in 35 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia/Pacific, and are organized by 30 fully staffed offices. Reed’s portfolio of 470 events services 49 industries in 12 key sectors.
