Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Called “A Resounding Success,” “A Great Show”
By Leading Gaming Industry Manufacturers
On-site research reveals an outstanding level of exhibitor/attendee satisfaction
Norwalk, CT—When the American Gaming Association (AGA) decided to produce a trade show and conference for the industry and by the industry, it promised that its new Global Gaming Expo (G2E) would put buyers with money to spend in front of manufacturers with products to sell.
Research conducted at G2E and exhibitor testimonials and commitments for 2002 confirm that the launch of G2E exceeded expectations. In a survey conducted at G2E by Reed Exhibitions, the AGA’s show management partner, 96% of attendees rated the quality of exhibitors as “excellent” or “very good.” Among this group, 83% completely or strongly agreed “G2E is a must attend event.” Seventy percent completely or strongly agreed that “if I could only go to one industry event, I’d go to G2E.” Respondents included 365 attendees and 126 exhibitors.
Show attendance numbers are being audited by Expomark, the exhibition-auditing unit of the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC). Expomark will conduct a third-party audit, verifying the show's attendance and attendee demographics. The Expomark Audit Report will objectively demonstrate the accuracy of G2E's registration procedures and record keeping systems by providing comparable credible attendee information by category, such as title, job function and purchasing power.
“G2E was a great show for IGT,” says Tom Baker, president and chief executive officer, International Game Technology. “We were concerned that the terrorist events might curtail attendance, but all of our domestic and most international customers visited our booth. IGT had a strong, fresh line up of products, and we were able to show everyone what’s available for 2002.”
Among exhibitors, 81% rated the ability to conduct business at G2E as “excellent” or “very good.” The same percentage rated the quality of show attendees as “excellent” or “very good.” Seventy-three percent completely or strongly agreed that “G2E is a must attend event.” Nearly 400 companies, including all leading gaming manufacturers, exhibited at G2E, over a net square footage of 138,330 feet of exhibit space at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
“The final results are, of course, only just being evaluated, but I can say that G2E has been a resounding success,” says David Orrick, communications director, Unidesa Gaming. “Given the uncertainty of recent times and events, no one could predict how G2E would turn out. It is a testament to the spirit of the global gaming industry that so many exhibitors and visitors from around the world came together to do such high levels of business.”
Exhibitors have contracted 114,700 net square feet of space for G2E 2002, which is nearly 83% of the total square footage of G2E 2001. The G2E 2002 exhibitor list, which reads like a “who’s who” of the gaming industry, includes A.C. Coin & Slot Service Co., Acres Gaming, Ainsworth Game Technology Ltd., Aristocrat Technologies, Atronic America LLC, Bally Gaming & Systems, Coinmaster Gaming LTD, GameCash, Gaming Systems International, Global Cash Access, IGT-International Game Technology, JCM American Corp., Lodging Management Systems, Mikohn Corporation, MultiMedia Games Inc., Paltronics, PDS Gaming, Paul-son Gaming Supplies Inc., R. Franco, Sega Gaming Technology, Shuffle Master Gaming, Sierra Design Group, Sigma Game Inc., TCS, The Bud Jones Company, Unidesa Gaming and W.M.S. Gaming.
“G2E attracted a level of customer quality that Bally Gaming and Systems hasn’t seen at a show in quite some time,” says Marcus Prater, vice president of marketing, Bally Gaming and Systems. “There is no question that G2E is off to a great start.”
Unidesa’s Orrick characterized G2E “as a commercial milestone for our company. Our new products were enthusiastically received and that has shown through in excellent sales figures.”
