Expanded G2E Conference Program Gives Attendees Tools to Compete in Modern Gaming Industry
Topics to Include Security and Surveillance, Research and Public Policy, New Gaming Technology

Las Vegas—What legislative and regulatory issues will have an impact on the gaming industry in the coming year?  How can individual companies thrive in the face of a stagnant economy?  What are the prospects and pitfalls for gaming expansion worldwide? Global Gaming Expo 2003 (G2E) has the answers to all these questions and more.

G2E, scheduled for Sept. 16-18 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, has expanded its conference program this year to include more than 100 sessions, as well as 30 intensive sessions in the G2E Training & Development Institute, making it the largest, most comprehensive information interchange on the global gaming industry to date. Sessions will focus on a wide range of issues facing the modern gaming executive, including casino management and marketing, international expansion trends, the future of Native American gaming, emerging technologies, casino security and surveillance, and responsible gaming.

“Over the past two years, G2E’s conference has gained a reputation for providing unprecedented insight into the issues that matter for today’s gaming executive,” said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association. “G2E puts attendees in direct contact with the industry leaders who have helped build the industry, as well as the experts who are working to shape its future.”

This year’s conference program goes even further to ensure attendees receive the tools and insight they need to stay on the cutting edge of the increasingly competitive gaming marketplace.  Highlights of this year’s conference program include such topics as “Future Shock: The Slot Floor of 2020”; “That’s the Ticket: How Coinless Play Transforms the Modern Casino”; “Saving the Tracks: Is Gaming the Answer?”; “Research and Treatment: International Responsible Gaming Efforts”; “Congressional Issues: Gaming on Capitol Hill”; “British Bets: Prospects for Gaming in the U.K.”; “Reviewing Regulations: Casino Executives and Regulators Respond”; “Working Wall Street: Gaming Analyst Roundtable”; “Homeland Security: What it Means to Gaming”; “Indian National Sovereignty and Tribal Government Gaming”; and “Regulation and Control: A U.S. Internet Gambling Commission?”

As in past years, G2E’s conference speakers and panelists include experts from a variety of sectors related to the gaming industry.  Alma Angotti, senior enforcement counsel for the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) at the U.S. Department of Treasury, will review the new rules requiring gaming establishments to report suspicious cash transactions. Peter Dean, chairman of the Gaming Board for Great Britain, will discuss the possible relaxation of gaming regulations in the United Kingdom.

Other noted conference speakers include Yvan Bolduc, senior partner for Loto Quebec; Jerry Keller, vice president of security at Wynn Resorts and former sheriff of Clark County, Nev.; Deron Marquez, chairman of the San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians; and Richard Thalheimer, professor at the University of Louisville School of Equine Studies.

“The economic, political and commercial landscapes in which we’re operating are evolving rapidly, and it’s imperative that we take advantage of opportunities to learn from one another,” said Jan Jones, senior vice president for communications and government relations for Harrah’s Entertainment.  “G2E brings together the world’s experts on the issues that are important for our business.  It’s the best opportunity of the year for information sharing.”

Jones will moderate “Research and Public Policy: Shaping the Political Battleground,” a panel of government relations experts aimed at exploring how the gaming industry can develop leading-edge strategies to define the terms of - and win - today’s public debates.

In addition to the main conference program, G2E 2003 will again feature two educational events at this year’s event - the popular Gaming Investment Forum and G2E Training & Development Institute.

Chairmen, presidents and CFOs of some of the world’s most successful gaming companies will outline expansion plans, market situations and company strategies at the Gaming Investment Forum, sponsored by financial titans Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank.  Scheduled for Sept. 16-17, the event will provide investors, analysts and stockbrokers, among others, the opportunity to glimpse the financial future of the gaming industry.

The G2E Training & Development Institute, scheduled for Sept. 15, the day before the official opening of the trade show and conference, will offer attendees a plethora of opportunities to enhance the profitability of their gaming business through intensive training in areas such as casino operations, slot operations, gaming education and security and surveillance issues.  Tracks are sponsored by ASIS International, Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers, Casino Management Association, and Gaming Standards Association.

G2E is the international gaming trade show and conference “by the industry and for the industry.” Organized by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions, G2E made its debut in fall 2001, defining itself as the pre-eminent show for the gaming-entertainment industry.

The AGA represents the commercial casino-entertainment industry by addressing federal legislative and regulatory issues.  The association also serves as a clearinghouse for information, develops educational and advocacy programs, and provides leadership on industry-related issues of public concern.

Reed Exhibitions is a world leader in creating high profile, targeted industry events where buyers and suppliers come together to do business.  Every year, Reed events bring together some 160,000 suppliers and over nine million buyers from around the world.  Today, Reed events are held in 35 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia/Pacific, and are organized by 30 fully staffed offices.  Reed’s portfolio of 470 events services 49 industries in 12 key sectors.
