Key Facts About Global Gaming Expo (G2E)

Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2003, scheduled for Sept. 16-18  at the Las Vegas Convention Center, is the international gaming trade show and conference “by the industry and for the industry.” Organized by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions, G2E made its debut in fall 2001, defining itself as the pre-eminent show for the gaming-entertainment industry. 

From the newest games and technologies that generate business on the casino floor to the innovative management strategies that build successful behind-the-scenes operations, G2E showcases the modern developments that will drive the future of the global gaming industry.

ATTENDANCE

  • According to official numbers, 13,652 people attended G2E 2002, with 11,071 people visiting 620 exhibitors and 2,581 people attending conference sessions. Attendance at G2E jumped more than 50 percent from 2001 to 2002.
  • G2E 2002 participants represented all 50 U.S. states and countries from around the world, including Argentina, Austria, Australia, Aruba, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Bahamas, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Germany, Greece, France, United Kingdom, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Malaysia, Netherlands, Peru, Russian Federation, Sweden, Slovenia and Taiwan. 

TRADE SHOW/EXHIBITS

  • More than 700 leading gaming industry vendors will showcase their products and services before key purchasing decision makers in 223,261 square feet of exhibit space (as of 9/9/03).  In 2002, exhibit space totaled 188,860 square feet. 
  • The trade show floor will feature separate exhibit pavilions focusing on three growth areas within the industry: the Security & Surveillance Pavilion, which will debut this year featuring the latest security products and trends; the Bingo Pavilion; and the Interactive Gaming Pavilion.  The New Product Showcase, a yearly show feature housed in Booth #369 of the exhibit floor, will highlight numerous new products expected to boost buying activity for gaming suppliers while making new product discoveries easy and efficient for operators.

CONFERENCE

  • The G2E 2003 conference program will feature more than 100 sessions distributed across 13 conference tracks: Bingo; Finance and Money; Games and Technology; Gaming Development; Gaming Education and Development; Law and Regulation; Interactive; Operations; Racinos and Lottery; Research and Public Policy; Security and Surveillance; Slot Operations; and Slot Technology.

SPECIAL EVENTS

  • G2E’s keynote events will feature three noteworthy media personalities.  All keynote events will take place from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in Room 246 of the Las Vegas Convention Center:
    • Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist George Will will deliver the opening keynote address on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
    • Emmy Award-winning talk-show host Larry King will moderate the State of the Industry panel, a roundtable discussion featuring a group of leading gaming industry executives, on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
    • MSNBC pollster Frank Luntz will host the Signature Series keynote address, a spirited, interactive exchange between members of the public and three of the world's foremost experts on gaming issues, on Thursday, Sept. 18.
  • On Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 12:30 p.m., public officials, industry leaders and members of the cast of the television show Gilligan’s Island - stars of a new slot machine being unveiled at G2E - will come together to officially open G2E 2003. (Main Hall entrance)
  • Top executives from some of the world’s most successful gaming companies will outline expansion plans, market situations and company strategies at the Gaming Investment Forum (GIF), sponsored by financial titans Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank.  Scheduled for Sept. 16-17, the event will provide investors, analysts and stockbrokers, among others, the opportunity to glimpse into the financial future of the gaming industry.
  • Members of the media are invited to attend two special sessions of GIF.  On Tuesday, Chairmen Checking In will feature a panel of top gaming executives discussing the challenges and opportunities facing the industry in the coming years.  On Wednesday, a panel of leading gaming industry CFOs - CFOs Checking In - will feature a more financially oriented discussion.  Both events will take place from 8 - 8:50 a.m. in Room N101.
  • The G2E Training & Development Institute, scheduled for Sept. 15, will offer intensive training in areas such as casino operations, slot operations, gaming education and security and surveillance issues.  (Rooms N101-120)
  • The third annual AGA Communications Awards will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17.  More than 100 entries have been submitted to the competition, which recognizes outstanding corporate and financial communications in gaming.  In partnership with Goldman, Sachs & Co., the AGA presents winners with the Gaming Voice Award.  Winners are selected by a blue-ribbon panel of judges with expertise in finance, advertising and new media.   • The second annual AGA Opportunity Expo will be held Thursday, Sept. 18.  The event provides a unique forum for disadvantaged and minority- and women-owned businesses to engage in valuable one-on-one discussions with purchasing executives from leading worldwide gaming companies.  Sponsored by the AGA Diversity Task Force, Opportunity Expo will allow more than 40 vendors and suppliers to meet with participating casinos, including Ameristar Casinos, Boyd Gaming, Harrah's Entertainment, Isle of Capri Casinos, Mandalay Resort Group, MGM MIRAGE, Park Place Entertainment and Station Casinos.
